Assignment 1 Breakdown - Spring 2025
Assignment 1 - Spring 2025Welcome, everyone! This page is your starting point for Assignment 1: Simulating Data Forwarding Operations of Network Routers. In this assignment, you'll use the C programming language to simulate the core functions of network routers, including reading routing data, generating packets, and simulating packet forwarding.
Assignment Overview
In this assignment, you will:
Read and process data from files:
nodeinfo.txt: Contains node names and IP addresses.
linkinfo.txt: Describes the connections between nodes, including link cost and bandwidth.
routeinfo.txt: Provides pre-computed routing information (source, destination, next hop, and cost).
Create a routing table:
Use the data from the files to build a routing table where each node has an entry for every destination. Each entry includes the destination node, the cost to reach it, and the next hop on the path.
